Do You Follow?
As many of you have already discovered, it is now much easier to follow other participants on the Day Zero website. A ‘Follow’ function has been the most requested feature by users, and it’s great to now be able to keep track of all the progress that is happening in the community.
Each user now has a ‘Follow’ button in the profile box and also a new Activity page...

Handpicked Ideas #5
This is the fifth in a regular series of posts that will pick out and highlight a few interesting submissions from Day Zero Project participants. I love the creative thought that some people put into their lists and how the scale of the task is not always as important as how fun or fulfilling it is.

Ride a camel in the desert

The New Seven Wonders of Nature
Voting is currently underway on the global poll to uncover the new seven wonders of nature:
The Official New7Wonders of Nature campaign started in 2007, immediately after the campaign to elect the man-made New Seven Wonders of the World, in which more than 100 million votes were cast. From over 440 participants representing over 220 countries and through a national qualification and race to become...

40 Things You Want To Build
While building this website has been a hobby of mine for some time, there are a lot of Day Zero Project members who want to build things too. I thought I would put together a selection of goals that participants have added which start with the word ‘Build’.
Build a blanket fort and sleep in it
Build a massive lego tower
Build a gingerbread house
Build and fly a model airplane
Build a...

Day Zero Project Website Update
This has been a long time coming, but I am pleased to announce an update to the website including a slight redesign and a lot of behind-the-scenes improvements. This update also includes a move to a more robust server that will handle more traffic and hopefully prevent any future outages such as the one which occurred around New Year’s.
What’s new:
You can now add notes on your...

Website Update
First up the good news - the website is back up after a lengthy outage. As mentioned earlier, no data has been lost and if you have an account then you can log in and continue to check off tasks and maintain your list.
For new visitors, unfortunately in order to ensure continuity of service to existing users I may have to temporarily disable the sign up process. There is still work to be done to...

Website Outage Update
Firstly, I would like to reassure visitors that the site will most definitely be back up and running and that no lists or accounts have been lost.
Just before Christmas, without any warning, my hosting company turned off access to the website after reporting heavy traffic. Their inflexible stance on this has meant that the only way forward is to migrate the site to a larger server. Unfortunately...

Latest Developments with the Day Zero Project
Hello to participants and followers of the Day Zero Project!
I thought I would take some time to write about a few of the upcoming developments that will be happening on the site. It’s been a busy year and the popularity of the project has grown at a rate for quicker than I anticipated.
I have observed that there are generally two types of participants:
The Personal Goal Setter For many people...

Day Zero vs Netherlands
With the World Cup final just a few days away I thought I would take a look at the country statistics on Day Zero to see where your allegiances lie. The numbers are overwhelming - outside of the US and Canada, the Netherlands are by far the biggest participants in the Day Zero challenge. (Spain aren’t listed in the graph here but make up only 0.3% of visitors to the site).
Incidentally,...

One of the really great things about the Day Zero community is that there are so many inventive and creative people contributing ideas for weird, wonderful and inspirational things to do. This is the first in a regular series of posts that will pick out and highlight a few submissions that you might enjoy - some simple, and others more outrageous.

Site Update
Two updates to the Day Zero website this week. As promised there is a new page showing the most popular tasks that participants of Day Zero have added to their lists. Head over to the Top 101 list where you can also see a top 20 list showing some of the more ambitious goals people have added to their ‘Someday’ lists, and also the top 20 most completed tasks.
There are now also...
Day Zero Project Explained
The great Bobulate (my favourite daily blog) pointed out an article by Dan Pink on the ‘third drive’ of humans. There are some really nice observations on how people are motivated to seek out challenges and I think this goes a long way to explaining why the Day Zero Project has resonated with so many people.
We do things even when they don’t satisfy our biological urges, win us a...

New Website Features
This week has seen the release of two new features. As well as your Things To Do list, there are now two new lists that you can add goals to - these are ‘Someday’ and ‘Done!’. You can see them in the top section of your list page.
The Someday list is a great place to put tasks you might want to do someday, but not on your main Things To Do list. The Done! list is a way of marking off things you...
